IT consulting for schools, non-profits & small businesses
Hello — I’m Kevin Williams. I help school districts, non-profits, and small businesses run technology that works: Google Workspace, PowerSchool, infrastructure, Apple device management, websites, custom tools built for your actual workflows — and the leadership to tie it together. Built on 24×7 healthcare IT operations experience and fifteen years inside school IT.
The same forty years of experience, applied at whatever scale you run.
Fifteen years inside K-12 IT — PowerSchool administration and conversions, Massachusetts DESE reporting, 1:1 device fleets, and custom tools built inside the systems you already run. The deep end of my practice.
Google Workspace, websites, infrastructure, and honest vendor advice — sized to lean budgets and volunteer boards. Technology that serves the mission instead of consuming it.
I’m the IT department you don’t have to hire: devices, email, security basics, vendor wrangling, and a web presence that looks like you — there when you need it, invisible when you don’t.
Whether you’re supplementing existing staff, bridging a gap in knowledge, or giving your team an experienced resource to lean on — here’s where I can help.
A few of the situations organizations bring me into:
Installing PowerSchool? I translate between PowerSchool Implementation and your district — saving time, money, and misconfiguration through an SIS conversion, especially with the unique Massachusetts DESE requirements.
Already on PowerSchool? I handle routine maintenance, state reporting, and report writing, so your in-house staff can focus on everything else.
No IT staff at all? Many of my clients have no technology staff. I’m the experienced call when something breaks, something needs buying, or something doesn’t smell right.
Wearing the IT hat on top of your real job? If you’re the director or office manager who also “does the computers,” I can take that weight — or just be the second opinion behind your decisions.
Building out infrastructure? From cloud services to 1:1 device management — and every component in between — built on experience running 24×7 IT services for healthcare operations.
Growing your people? I mentor promising IT staff and give leadership an experienced sounding board, drawing on 30+ years of IT management.
When off-the-shelf software doesn’t fit, I build focused tools on the platforms you already run. Recent examples were built for Massachusetts K-12 organizations — the same approach fits any organization that lives in Google Workspace:
Occasional essays from the practitioner’s side of school technology.
Don’t spend the money on 1:1 devices if your wireless network isn’t ready. What actually matters in preparing a school network for every student carrying a device.
Read the essay →“Think of all the paper we’ll save” is the most overused line in ed-tech. If paper savings justify your technology purchase, you’re making a losing bet — and missing the point.
Read the essay →Tell me what you’re working through — an SIS conversion, a network that isn’t keeping up, a staffing gap, a website that needs to exist, or technology nobody in the building really owns. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
